Ok, so I don’t have a green thumb. I wish I did. But I just don’t.
We had a garden last year and it did fairly well. We could’ve done better but again it was my first time ever having my own garden. And it was a lot of work. And I mean a lot of work.
This year we just wanted to have a couple of things but not have a whole garden like we did last year. We just don’t have time to keep it up and with the crazy weather here it was just hard. Having a garden in California is probably easier because you can practically have it year-round. Here with the crazy weather or you can only have it after the last freeze and you can have it through the summer and spring and then it starts to get too cool and then it’s over.
I wish I had a picture of our garden from last year. The one vegetable that surprised me the most last year was the potatoes. Towards the end of the gardening season as I like to collect, I had completely forgotten about the potatoes. And we went to go dig everything up to get rid of our raised beds and as I was digging everything up I dug up about 25 potatoes. It was amazing.
This year we have planted:
Cabbage, my daughter school gave her this plant.
Jalapeños and Habaneros
And we also planted sweet potatoes. I don’t have a picture of them but they are doing amazing.
Instead of using a raised beds we planted everything in whiskey barrel’s. It’s pretty looking but it’s just also a lot easier.
So I’ll keep you updated on how well it does. And if it does well we are going to buy a couple more whiskey barrels.
