Edmund Kemper

Everyone has been learning more about Serial Killer Edmund Kemper because of the show MindHunters. He was a serial killer in Santa Cruz, California in the 60’s and 70’s. He was known as the CoEd Killer.

When he was younger he killed his grandparents. He was in Juvenile Hall but was somehow able to convince people he was changed and ok. So he was released. He then started killing female students at UCSC. He would then throw their bodies over cliffs off Highway 17. He also killed his mom and her best friend in his and his moms home. He then buried them in the garden. He also did disgusting things with their bodies because he was a necrophiliac. So gross.

Steve and I lived in Santa Cruz for quiet a few years. We watched a special on Edmund one night and they showed his home. The one where he killed his mom, her best friend, and some others and buried them in the garden.

And we were shocked to say the least. We lived down the street from this place. So we hopped in the car and drove by. And yup, there it was. New people living there.

I couldn’t believe we lived down the street to this home of terror. I wondered if the people living there knew what had happened.

If you don’t know about Edmund, look him up. He was diabolical. Very scary. He is serving 8 concurrent life sentences in a mental facility. He is helping the police profile serial killers and he also lends his voice to Audiobooks. Such as Flowers In the Attic. Bet you didn’t know that.

15 Minutes

My favorite time of the morning. The 15 minutes before my kids wake up. I can sit with my cup of coffee and just be in the quiet of my home. The quiet before the storm.

Once 6am comes, the storm starts. That’s when I am trying to get my kids out of bed and ready for school. So we can leave the house by 6:40am to catch the school bus.

In this 15 minutes, I will sip on my coffee and rock in my rocking chair. I will enjoy the peace and quiet because it’s the only time I get to myself.

What do you do with your 15 minutes?

Ablation

Sorry to any guys who may be reading this. This post is for women.

I had a tubal ligation back in August 2014 after I had my second daughter. My pregnancy was a tough one. I had gestational diabetes and had to inject insulin 4 times a day as well as severe pre-eclampsia. My daughter and I both almost died during birth. So my doctor told me it would be in my best interest to not have anymore children. She said, I probably wouldn’t make it through another birth. So as a precaution, I had my tubes tied.

Ever since then, my cycles have been horrific. I won’t go into detail. Just know, they are really really bad. So I scheduled a consult with my VA doctor to see if I could get referred for an ablation. And I got that referral. I had my consult with my new doctor outside the VA, I had a biopsy done of my uterus, to make sure I’m cancer free. That came back clear. So now I’m waiting for them to call to schedule. The doctor believes that this will be able to help me with my monthly problem. My fingers are crossed.

Now the only thing I’m worried about is getting put to sleep. Me and surgery don’t mix well. For example, my emergency c-section ended with me losing massive amounts of blood. I had to receive 2 blood transfusions and stay in the hospital a week and a half. When I had my tubal, my surgery was supposed to be like an hour and simple. It ended up being difficult and lasting 4 hours. So I just get really nervous.

But I need this done. So I’m gonna push my fear aside and do it. Hopefully they call me soon.

Cajun Shrimp Pastalaya

I fixed this dish the other night for my family and they loved it. It’s another recipe I for from tablespoon.com. Check out this awesome site for some amazing recipes.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil

1/2 lb Andouille sausage, sliced

1/2 white onion, diced

1/2 cup diced celery

1 can (14.5 oz) Muir Glen™ Organic Diced Tomatoes

1 lb penne pasta

1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

3 cups chicken stock

1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

Salt and pepper

Fresh parsley, for garnish

Steps

1 Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a large Dutch oven over medium heat. Add sliced sausage, white onion and celery to pan and cook 3 to 4 minutes until veggies soften.

2. Meanwhile, peel and devein the shrimp. Tip: use a small paring knife or kitchen shears to cut down the back of the shrimp and wash out the vein. Leave tails on and set aside.

3. Add tomatoes, penne pasta, Cajun seasoning and chicken stock to the Dutch oven. Bring mixture to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 6 minutes.

4. Stir well, then replace lid and cook for another 4 minutes. At this point, the pasta will be mostly cooked and most of the liquid absorbed.

5. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the pan and stir to combine. Cover and cook 3 minutes more.

6. Remove lid and give everything a good stir. Taste the pastalaya and season with salt and pepper to your liking. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Walmart Beauty Box

I received my Fall Walmart Beauty Box.

Even though my box is dented, this is actually a pretty good one. It’s only $5 each Box and you get 4 a year. One per season. Here is what I received.

First it came with this cruel Hydratherapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. I’m not too excited about this because it comes in almost every Walmart Box. So I have quite a few.

Next is the Blistex Deep Renewal lip protectant. It has spf 15 in it. I’m in need or more chapstick so this excites me. I tried it out and it feels amazing on.

Next I receive Bioré Witch Hazel Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips. It came with one nose strip to try.

Next I received Pantene Intense Rescue Shots Ampoule. It’s a hair treatment to use after washing your hair to repair extreme damage and prevent split ends. I’ll give this a try since my hair is damaged from coloring it. However I have very fine hair so not sure if it will make it oily or weigh it down.

Next I received a Purifying Black Charcole Mask. I love getting masks. These are always my favorite. I’ve used this one before and loved it in the past.

And lastly I received a Schick Intuition F.A.B razor. I think Walmart was reading my mind because a new razor was on my grocery list. This one in particular has 5 blades.

So all this for $5. That’s a great deal. I’m super happy with this box and plan on continuing my subscription.

Metal, Music, Pop Culture

Metallica

I’m a Libra. Libras have a special connection to music. And we really do. I really do. Music is my life. I’ve sang in choirs since I was a kid. I love all music. Well except Rap. I’m def not a rap lover.

Metal and Country music are my two favorites. I have loved both since I was a kid. But I will have to say that my number one favorite band that I love more than any other is Metallica. No one jams like Metallica. No one can down pick like Metallica. Metallica is the GOAT.

And speaking of Metallica, there is no other like James Hetfield. His voice is iconic. The way he down picks is amazing. How he can rock out one minute and sing an amazing ballad the next. He is the epitome of Metal!!!

Everything James stands for I’m down with. He hunts, I love it. He loves the outdoors. He left California because it was feeling elitist and he felt he was fighting everyday. That’s one of the reasons I left California.

So tomorrow on my way to work, you know what will be playing in my car…METALLICA!
