Metal, Music, Pop Culture

I’m a Libra. Libras have a special connection to music. And we really do. I really do. Music is my life. I’ve sang in choirs since I was a kid. I love all music. Well except Rap. I’m def not a rap lover.

Metal and Country music are my two favorites. I have loved both since I was a kid. But I will have to say that my number one favorite band that I love more than any other is Metallica. No one jams like Metallica. No one can down pick like Metallica. Metallica is the GOAT.

And speaking of Metallica, there is no other like James Hetfield. His voice is iconic. The way he down picks is amazing. How he can rock out one minute and sing an amazing ballad the next. He is the epitome of Metal!!!

Everything James stands for I’m down with. He hunts, I love it. He loves the outdoors. He left California because it was feeling elitist and he felt he was fighting everyday. That’s one of the reasons I left California.

So tomorrow on my way to work, you know what will be playing in my car…METALLICA!

I received my July BoxyCharm today. And talk about being excited. This one is awesome.

For those that don’t know, BoxyCharm is a monthly subscription box of make up and facial products. It’s $21 a month and you get 5 full size products. And it’s fantastic. They have awesome brands in their boxes.

So let’s take a look at what I got:

First are these Ko Gen Do Spa cleansing water cloths. This retails for $17. It’s like they were reading my mind because just last night I was saying to myself that I hope my BoxyCharm come with face wipes cause I’m about out. These remove waterproof makeup and cleanse your face with mineral spa water.

Ofra Liquid Lip in the shade Santorini. Retails for $20. Beautiful color. I can’t wait to try it.

Lastly and definitely my favorite is this Butter London Natural Goddess Eyeshadow Palette. This retails for $32. The colors are beautiful and so pigmented. And they feel so creamy. I’m am so excited about this palette.

So the total worth of this box was: $134. And I received it for $21. This box is so worth it. I absolutely love it.

The Hills

I was never a The Hills watcher the first time around. Because I couldn’t relate to them. They were fairly close to my age. But they were a bunch of rich kids living and partying in LA. That wasn’t my life. And all they did was gossip and make bad choices. They all seemed like spoiled, narcissistic kids.

So now it is been 9 years and The Hills is back. So I’m giving it a try. Only because I have come to like Spencer and Heidi Pratt.

They aren’t the disgusting people they portrayed on The Hills. They were always upfront and how they were kids coming into a ton of money and how they were stupid with it and lost it.

They moved away from LA for awhile. Spencer got his degree and they had a child. They are both very into crystals and Spencer has made an incredible career with his crystals. I’ve talked to him a few times on Social media, and he’s actually a very kind person. So I know that if I see anything bad from them on this reboot of The Hills, it’s just for the show. Because they are actually really good people.

One thing I understand about Heidi is her anxiety with Motherhood. You feel so connected and responsible for this little person, that you can’t imagine leaving them with anyone. Even their dad. You want to be with your child every moment of every day and it’s hard for you to step away from that. I completely understand that. But she needs to learn to find away to separate herself from that. Not to lose herself completely in motherhood and remember everyone else around her. She’s not just a mom, she’s a wife, sister, and friend. I hope she learns to fight through that anxiety.

So far this new season has been good. A lot of them have grown and changed and a few of them are moms. Like Heidi, Audrina, and Whitney. So I feel like I can relate a little more. I know to watch a show, you don’t have to relate to the characters, but in this regard, I do. I just don’t have the kind of money they all do. So I think I’ll give this a try. Let’s see how scripted this is compared to last time. Maybe I’ll have to watch the first four years so I can understand this one more.

It Came

I am so excited because my Avon box came yesterday. As I said in a previous blog post, I ordered Avon for the first time. My grandma was a huge Avon fan back in the day, so I always associated it with old ladies. LOL!!!

Then I started chatting with Adrienne Curry, who was the season one winner of America’s Next Top Model and one cool ass chic. She is an Avon lady and would post videos about how much she loves the product and she would do you get ready with me videos using Avon’s make up. And I noticed that the looks she was doing were so beautiful, and the colors were so vibrant. That I knew I had to give it a try.

So here is what I ordered from Adrienne’s Avon store:

Dramatic firming cream. Retails for $10 and I got it on sale for $4.49.

Magic Tint Brightening Tinted Moisturizer in the color light. Retails for $12. I got it on sale for $8.

Avon true color super extended precise liquid pen. I got it in dark charcoal. Retails for $8.

I got two at the Avon true color lipstick. The colors I chose are frostiest mauve and peony blush. These retail for $8 each. I got them on sale 2 for $10.

Lastly, I got these Beautiful glittery hoop earrings in silver tone. These retail for $12.99 and I got them on sale for $6.99.

Also, I was able to use a coupon code from an email I received from Adrienne for free shipping on orders over $25.

I am blown away by the products that they have. They are high-quality products that are so budget friendly. I’m just not someone that wants to spend hundreds of dollars on make up. Because make up does expire after A certain amount of time and I don’t wear make up every day. So I need something that won’t break the bank. I am very happy with my order and I plan on sticking with Avon make up from here on out.

If you would like to try Avon, check out Adrienne’s site:

Make sure you tell her Shannon, The Ozark Momma sent you.

RIP Beth Chapman

Today is a sad day. The world lost a wonderful woman. Beth Chapman. The wife of Dog The Bounty Hunter.

She battled stage 2 throat cancer for a few years now. And had been in a medically induced come for a week now.

I can’t even imagine what Dog and their family must be going through. Such a terrible loss. My heart, love and prayers go out to Dog, Beth’s family and friends and all of her fans. Such a sad day.

RIP Michael Jackson

Today marks 10 years since the passing of Michael Jackson. The greatest entertainer of all time.

His death was a shock to me. I was the biggest Michael Jackson fan. I’ll admit, I had a shrine to him in my room from Junior High through High School. I would sit and watch his videos and cry because I loved him so much. I would pray at night to one day marry him. I was a kid. Give me a break. LOL!!!

However thinking about it, could you ever picture Michael as a old man? I know I can’t. He will always remain in my memory as this:

I’ll miss you forever Michael!

Role Models

With the way the world has become, there aren’t many people that you would be ok with your child idolizing. There aren’t many role models that I’m ok with anymore.

I don’t want my kids idolizing people like The Kardashians, most celebrities, or anyone on reality TV. Where are the wholesome respectable role models?

Growing up, my role model was Princess Diana. What an amazing woman. Kind, caring, and so beautiful. Her love of others was contagious. She was everything I wanted to be when I was older. Not a Princess. Just a kind person.

But who will my children idolize? Who will they look up to?

After reading about them and watching them grow up, become husbands and wives. Then become mom’s and dad’s, I think that Prince William, Duchess Kate, Prince Harry and Duchess Megan make great role models. Not because they are royalty, but because they are great people. They are kind, like Princess Diana. They are loving, and you see them out there doing anything that will tarnish the royal name.

I want my children to idolize good people. Not people who became famous for a leaked sex tape. Or because they live crazy lives in the public eye.

Times are changing. We need to spotlight the people doing good. And stop giving these train wrecks a platform.
